Information you provide
You can browse LegisLens without creating an account. If you contact us, donate, or subscribe, we receive the information needed to respond or provide that service, such as your name, email address, message, and transaction status. Payment providers process payment-card details; LegisLens does not receive or store your full card number.
Address lookup
When you use the district finder, the address you enter is sent to the U.S. Census Geocoder to identify a congressional district. LegisLens does not intentionally save the address in its application database. The Census service and hosting providers may process request information under their own policies.
Information collected automatically
Our hosting and security providers may process basic request data such as IP address, device and browser information, requested pages, timestamps, and error or security events. We use this information to deliver, secure, diagnose, and understand the service.
Local preferences
LegisLens may use browser storage to remember device-local choices, such as saved representatives or dismissed notices. Clearing browser storage removes these local preferences. If you create an account, Supabase processes your email address, encrypted authentication credentials, session information, and account identifiers so we can provide sign-in, verification, recovery, and future account features. LegisLens does not receive your plaintext password.
Advertising and analytics
LegisLens may use Google AdSense and related Google services to display and measure advertisements. Subject to your region and consent choices, Google and its partners may use cookies, local storage, IP addresses, device information, and activity on this site to select, limit, measure, and prevent fraud in advertising. You can learn about Google's data practices at How Google uses information from partner sites and manage advertising preferences through My Ad Center.
Where required, we will ask for consent before using advertising storage or personalized advertising. Declining personalized advertising does not necessarily remove all ads; it may result in limited or contextual ads.
How information is used

- Process donations and subscriptions through payment providers.
- Measure site performance and improve usability.
- Display, measure, and protect advertising when enabled.
- Comply with law and enforce our terms.
Sharing
We may share information with service providers that perform hosting, security, analytics, advertising, communications, and payment processing for LegisLens; when you direct us to; when required by law; or as part of a business transfer. We do not sell personal information for money. Some advertising activity may be treated as “sharing” or “targeted advertising” under certain U.S. state laws, for which applicable choices will be provided.
Retention and security
We retain information only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described here, including security, accounting, dispute resolution, and legal obligations. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
You may browse without an account, clear local preferences, manage browser cookies, use available consent controls, unsubscribe from non-transactional email, or ask about access, correction, or deletion of information associated with you. Some requests may require identity verification and may be limited by applicable law.
Children and international visitors
LegisLens is a general-audience service and is not directed to children under 13. Visitors outside the United States understand that information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate.
